童話を英訳してみたシリーズ6弾。今回は「赤ずきん（Little Red Riding Hood）」です。
登場人物
- 赤ずきん：little red riding hood
- オオカミ：wolf
- おばあさん：grandmother
あらすじ（英訳）
This is a little red riding hood.
Everyone calls her “Red” because she always wears a pretty cape.
One day, her mother says,
“Please take this basket and go to your grandmother’s house”.
And she says,
“Go straight there and don’t talk to strangers!”.
Suddenly, there is a wolf!
The wolf says,
“Where are you going?”
Red says,
“I’m going to my grandmother’s house to take some fruits!”
The wolf asks,
“Where does your grandmother live?”
Red answers,
“She lives at the end of the road!”
The wolf says,
“Pick some flowers for your grandmother! She will be happy!”
Red answers,
“That’s a good idea! Thank you!”
And she starts to pick flowers by the path.
While Red picks flowers, the wolf runs to her grandmother’s house.
But she wasn’t her house.
The wolf wears her grandmother’s cloths and cap.
And he lies down in her grandmother’s bed.
And he waits for Red.
Then Red arrives but her grandmother is so different…
Red asks to the false grandmother.
“Grandmother…, your eyes are so big!”
The false grandmother says,
“My eyes are big so I can see you well!”
Red asks to the false grandmother.
“Grandmother…, your ears are so big!”
The false grandmother says,
“My ears are big so I can hear you well!”
Red asks to the false grandmother.
“Grandmother…, your teeth are so big!”
The false grandmother says,
“My teeth are big so I can eat you!”
The wolf jumps up and runs toward Red.
Suddenly her grandmother arrives.
She grabs a broom and hits the wolf on the head!
The wolf is so surprised and runs away.
And Red never talks to strangers again.
あらすじ（日本語）
赤ずきんをかぶった女の子がいました。
その少女はいつも赤いずきんをかぶっているため、人々はその少女を「赤ずきん」と呼んでいます。
ある日、彼女のお母さんは赤ずきんにお願いをします。
「このバスケットをおばあさんの家に届けてくれる？」
そして彼女のお母さんは忠告します。
「寄り道せずにお家に向かってね！知らない人と話したりしてはダメだからね！」
彼女の前に突然オオカミが現れこう言いました。
「どこに行くの？」
赤ずきんは答えます。
「おばあさんの家に果物を届けに行くの！」
さらにオオカミが尋ねます。
「おばあさんはどこに住んでいるの？」
赤ずきんは答えます。
「わたしのおばあさんはこの道を進んだ突き当りに住んでいるよ！」
するとオオカミは提案をします。
「おばあさんのためにお花を摘んでいったらいいと思うよ！おばあさんもきっと喜ぶよ！」
赤ずきんは
「それはとても素敵なアイデアね！ありがとう！」
と答えると、道端に咲いている花を摘み始めました。
赤ずきんが花を摘んでいる間に、オオカミはおばあさんの家に走っていきました。
しかし、そこにおばあさんはいませんでした。
オオカミは、おばあさんの服と帽子をかぶりました。
そして彼女のベッドに横になり、赤ずきんが来るのを待ちました。
しばらくして赤ずきんがやってきましたが、おばあさんの見た目がいつもと異なることに気づき、赤ずきんはおばあさんに尋ねます。
「おばあさん、あなたの目はとても大きいのね！」
偽のおばあさん（オオカミ）は答えます。
「わたしの目が大きいのは、赤ずきんをよく見るためだよ！」
赤ずきんはさらにおばあさんに尋ねます。
「おばあさん、あなたの耳はとても大きいのね！」
偽のおばあさん（オオカミ）は答えます。
「わたしの耳が大きいのは、赤ずきんの声をよく聞くためだよ！」
赤ずきんはさらにおばあさんに尋ねます。
「おばあさん、あなたの口はとても大きいのね！」
偽のおばあさん（オオカミ）は答えます。
「わたしの口が大きいのは、赤ずきんを食べるためだよ！」
すると、オオカミはベッドから飛び起き、赤ずきんの方に向かって追いかけてきました。
するとそこへ、おばあさんが帰ってきました。
彼女は持っていたホウキでオオカミの頭を叩きました。
オオカミはとても驚き、そして逃げていきました。
赤ずきんはそれ以降、知らない人とは話すことはなくなりましたとさ。
